Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP)

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), formerly known as KGSP, is a fully funded scholarship program offered by the Korean government through the National Institute for International Education (NIIED). It provides international students with the opportunity to study at higher education institutions in Korea at both undergraduate and graduate levels, aiming to promote international education exchange and mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries. The program selects over 2,000 students annually from around 155 countries for the graduate track alone.

For graduate programs, the scholarship covers master’s (1 year Korean language training + 2 years degree) and doctoral (1 year language + 3 years degree) studies, as well as research programs. Benefits include round-trip economy class airfare, settlement allowance (one-time), monthly living allowance, full tuition fees, Korean language training fees, research support (for eligible students), and medical insurance coverage. Undergraduate programs similarly cover 1 year language + 4-6 years bachelor’s or 2-3 years associate degrees with comparable benefits. Applications are processed through Embassy Track or University Track with multiple selection rounds.

The 2026 cycle targets the 2026-2027 academic year and is actively ongoing, with no indication of hiatus. Deadlines vary by embassy for Embassy Track (e.g., 2026-02-25 KST) and by university for University Track; applicants must check specific embassies.
